Flexible single and double-sided infrared heaters – energy and energy efficiency

flexible heaters

Flexible heaters consist of an organic film with a transparent conductive heating layer applied to it, ~0.3 microns thick. In the case of a double-sided heater, the heating layer is laminated with another organic film, which ensures electrical safety of the heater.

Setting the thermostat to a temperature range of 30-60°C increases energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.

In the case of a single-sided heater, the laminating film has a mirror finish. In both cases, flexible heaters can have a bright pattern or other image on their surface. The standard size of the heater is 60×120 cm, 30×60 cm, and other sizes are possible.

A promising area of application for flexible film heaters is their use in already installed or new window frames. A technology has been developed for gluing these heating elements to the surface of double-glazed windows on the side opposite to the room. In this case, the glass heating temperature can vary from +20°C to +80°C. When the power supply to the transparent heating layer is turned off, the latter acts as a thermal barrier, limiting the transmission of infrared radiation (heat) on both sides of the insulating glass unit to 15-20%.

Flexible transparent dual-function heaters with a transparent heating layer are unique products. This heater provides heating of a room (with a power of 400-500 W and a surface area of 0.75-1.0 m²) up to 12 m². The installed electronics allow you to adjust and set the required temperature in the room. The advantage is energy-efficient electricity consumption.

At commercial production, the cost of a 500-600 W heater will be about UAH 150-200, depending on the configuration. This will make it possible to provide the population with cheap and energy-efficient heaters.

One plant for applying a transparent heating layer (the main technological process) can produce 10,000 heater elements (flexible film with a coated heating layer) in one shift.

The idea of using a flexible organic film with a thin-film heating transparent oxide layer and the implemented technology of deposition of a transparent conductive heating layer is unparalleled.

It is possible to implement and organize production, which, on the one hand, will ensure high profitability, and, on the other hand, will provide the population with cheap and reliable heaters.

Social feasibility: meeting the demand of the population for the latest heating devices will increase significantly due to the rise in price of gas and traditional heating systems.

The development is protected by patents of Ukraine and may be patented in China, Europe and the United States in the future.
